Referral Biography
Dr. Chandler is passionate about helping his clients learn and apply basic principles of emotional fitness. He believes that the human condition is universal and we are all susceptible to colds, flu, anxiety and depression. He looks at each client as a unique human being, with inner strength and wisdom, who can learn to overcome the challenges that come into life and find success and happiness.
Dr. Chandler has worked in the field of Mental Health for 30 years. He has a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Brigham Young University, a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Kansas State University, and a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He is licensed as a psychologist in both Utah and Missouri and has a broad range of experience, having worked with clients spanning in age from 3 to 87. He recently moved from Missouri where he was in private practice for over 20 years, specializing in treating adolescents and adults with depression and anxiety. His experiences there led him to write a book which he has published entitled, Approaching Life With Confidence: Defeat Depression and Anxiety by Taking Charge of Your Mind. During those 20 years in private practice, Dr. Chandler worked at a psychiatric hospital where he conducted psychological evaluations on children and adolescents and offered consultation to psychiatrists, nurses and hospital staff. He facilitated therapy groups for thousands of adolescents and worked with these young patients in both individual and family therapy.
Beginning as a Post-Doctoral Resident in Salt Lake City and extending throughout his time in Missouri, Dr. Chandler developed expertise with psychological assessment. He has completed nearly 10,000 comprehensive psychological evaluations, using numerous different diagnostic tests to analyze, understand and help treat a wide range of emotional disorders.
Dr. Chandler is comfortable with a variety of settings and clients, having experience working in prisons, residential group homes, hospitals, university counseling centers and outpatient clinics. No matter the setting or the ailment, Dr. Chandler seeks to connect with his clients at the basic human level to ensure understanding and individualized care.
