Referral Biography
I earned my Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Counseling Psychology at Brigham Young University, where I served as an adjunct professor and participated in research on school behavioral interventions, eating disorders, self-esteem, and women’s issues. After earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Educational Psychology and Elementary Education at BYU, I completed graduate coursework in educational therapy at University of California–Berkeley, University of California–Santa Cruz, University of Virginia, and Trinity College.
I have provided psychotherapy and psychological assessment in a variety of settings, including community mental health, drug-alcohol-addiction treatment facilities, residential and wilderness treatment programs, K-12 schools, and university clinics. As a licensed psychologist, I provide psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults through individual, couple, and family-based interventions. Although I treat a variety of concerns, I have expertise assisting clients with life changes and transitions, coping with traumatic life experiences, parenting and behavioral challenges, dissatisfaction in significant relationships, issues related to body image and unhealthy eating patterns, and having difficulty managing feelings such as depression, stress, anxiety, and anger. Through collaboration, I focus on increasing a client’s self awareness and assisting them in establishing new ways to cope with their difficulties that are consistent with the client’s personal values and beliefs.
