Don’t forget about sleep: Incorporating assessment and treatment of sleep into busy practices

Dr. Katherine Fortenberry

Join Dr. Fortenberry to discuss sleep assessment. Participants in this webinar will address the following learning objectives:

 Learning objectives:

1.       Participants will understand the prevalence and impact of sleep disorders with common mental health concerns

2.       Participants will gain resources for integrating sleep assessment into mental health assessments

3.       Participants will learn skills for applying Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia to clients with common mental health concerns.


 Katherine Fortenberry, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Division of Family Medicine, Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of Utah. She maintains a primary care psychology practice, consulting with family physicians and working with patients with a range of mental health and behavioral health concerns. As the Behavioral Health Education Director for the University of Utah Family Medicine Residency program, she teaches physician learners to effectively diagnose and treat mental health concerns commonly seen in primary care, and encourages them to maintain focus on their own self-care. Her research focuses on psychosocial adjustment to chronic health conditions, and improving integration and treatment of mental health conditions in primary care. She completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Utah, her clinical internship at the Memphis VAMC, and a postdoctoral fellowship in primary care psychology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center before returning to Utah.  She is an active UPA member and enjoys teaching psychology graduate students and medical residents.

The Lunchtime Learning webinar series is offered for free to UPA members as a member benefit. It is not available to non-members. This event offers one CEU credit for those who attend and complete a quiz with a score of 80%.

There is a two-step registration process for this webinar. After you register for this event on the UPA website, you will be sent a link to register for the webinar through Zoom. Information on completing your quiz and receiving your CEU will be sent to you when you register for the webinar. The quiz itself will be delivered the day after the webinar.
