As clinicians, we are inundated with everchanging systems, standards of care, and increased practice expectations which can lead us to feel overwhelmed and uncertain. There's a tension between the immediate practical demands of an ethical quandary and the recommended 15+ step decision-making models we learned in graduate school, making it challenging to discern what actually matters most. This lunchtime seminar will review recent licensing complaint data summarizing Utah trends and highlight priority areas for preventative ethical practice. An efficient checklist with the crucial steps in a dilemma will be shared to strengthen, simplify and add confidence to your decision-making processes. The second half will also provide opportunities for Q&A, discussion, and practical resources.
Dr. Greenwell is the founder of Greenwell Psychology & Consulting, an organization that focuses on helping clients reclaim their sense of vitality after facing chronic stress, trauma, and health challenges. She is also dedicated to supporting clinicians around issues of professional practice and standards of care. Since 2020, she has been the UPA Ethics Committee Co-Chair, offering expert consultation for ethical dilemmas. Dr. Greenwell has also served on a state psychology licensing board. In addition to providing consultation and clinical care for over 15 years, Ashley is a faculty member at the University of Utah where she enjoys teaching and supervising future psychologists.
