Course Overview

Self-Compassion has been a buzz phrase in our field for a few years, but what exactly is it? This seminar will cover what self-compassion is, how it is different from self-esteem and uncompassionate self-responding, issue of diversity related to self-compassion, the evidence that supports it, and a discussion of how we can incorporate self-compassion into treatment.

  2. Discuss the evidence that supports the use of self-compassion
  3. Explain ways to incorporate self-compassion in treatment

Presenter Bio:

Dr. Jessica Gerfen

Dr. Jessica Gerfen is the Chief Executive Officer of St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute (SLBMI). She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the Houston OCD Program. Dr. Gerfen has engaged in extensive research into the field of self-compassion and has given numerous trainings on the topic.
